Why Freshly Ground Matters

Coffee starts to go stale soon after grinding, and most supermarket ground coffee has sat in a bag for weeks before you open it. We roast and grind every order at our Devon roastery just before it ships, so it arrives with far more aroma and flavour. For the very freshest cup, whole beans and a home grinder are best, but our fresh ground coffee is a big step up from anything on a supermarket shelf.

What Grind Do You Need?

Espresso and stovetop: a fine grind, for espresso machines and moka pots.
Filter and Aeropress: a medium grind, for V60, Chemex, Aeropress and drip machines.
Cafetière and French press: a coarse grind, for full immersion brewing.
Choose your grind on the product page and we grind to the right size for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grind options can I choose?

Whole beans, espresso and stovetop, filter and Aeropress, French press, or cafetière. Pick your grind on the product page and we grind every bag to order. We never pre-grind and stock.

How fresh is the ground coffee when it arrives?

We roast and grind after you order, so most customers receive coffee roasted within the last 1 to 3 days. Every bag shows its roast date.

Do you deliver ground coffee across the UK?

Yes, to all mainland UK addresses. Orders placed before 9am on a working day are dispatched the same day; after 9am they go out the next working day. Delivery is free on coffee orders over 1kg, and you can mix and match bags to reach it.

What is the best ground coffee to buy from you?

Our best sellers are Big Red (bright and fruity, great for espresso and filter), Black Bear (rich and chocolatey, popular for lattes and flat whites) and Daily Brew (smooth and easy drinking). Not sure? The Coffee Explorer Taster Box lets you try several at once.

Can I buy ground coffee in bulk?

Yes. Our blends come in 1kg bags, which save up to 31% compared with 250g bags. See coffee by the kilo. For larger wholesale orders, visit our wholesale page.

Can I get ground coffee on subscription?

Yes. A Roasters Club coffee subscription delivers coffee ground for your brew method on your schedule, with free UK delivery on every order.

Do you sell coffee for Nespresso machines?

Yes. Our home compostable coffee pods come in Black Bear, Big Red, Daily Brew and decaf.

Should I buy ground coffee or whole beans?

Ground coffee is quick and convenient. If you grind just before brewing, whole beans stay fresh for longer. We offer both.

What's the best way to store ground coffee?

Keep it in an airtight container away from light, heat and moisture. Avoid the fridge, as temperature changes cause condensation that affects flavour.

What's the difference between supermarket ground coffee and freshly ground coffee?

Supermarket ground coffee often sits on shelves for weeks or months, losing its aroma. Ours is roasted in small batches on our vintage Probat roasters and ground to order just before dispatch. Discover our artisan coffee.
