This washed SHB lot comes from small holder farms in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica.
The region of Tarrazu sits in a valley between the Pacific coast and the Talamanca Sierra; a geography that traps coastal moisture as precipitation, combined with the high elevations, the beans grow denser than normal, giving the coffee its Strictly Hard Bean certification. The cherries are processed at the state of the art Beneficio and Palmichal Micro Mills located in the heart of Tarrazu and its surrounding regions, where they facilitate seperation and traceability. In recent years Beneficio Palmichal has experimented with planting 350,000 seedlings using high quality resistant varietals to increase the regions harvest.
