Over the past year, you may have observed changes to our packaging. This shift has arisen due to ongoing manufacturing issues within the UK regarding the ‘home compostable’ packaging options. Unfortunately, the challenges we have encountered over the last year remain unresolved, and combined with the stagnation of domestic recycling infrastructure, we have found ourselves needing to adapt.After careful consideration, we have decided to transition from compostable to recyclable coffee bags. At the Coffee Factory, our commitment is to make sustainable decisions that reduce the impact of our products. A pivotal aspect of this commitment is ensuring our customers have straightforward and responsible methods for disposing of their empty coffee bags.While compostable plastics may initially appear to be an ideal solution for single-use packaging, the current infrastructure in the UK is not equipped to handle them effectively. The availability of facilities capable of processing such materials is limited, and even fewer are accessible to the public. We believe it is essential not to provide packaging that complicates proper disposal, as this may result in our bags being discarded as general waste.Therefore, we have opted for recyclable coffee bags. This decision represents a significant step towards minimizing our environmental footprint and promoting responsible consumption within our community.We remain dedicated to finding eco-friendly solutions and will continue to monitor packaging options and infrastructure developments. For now, we are confident that this is the best course of action.
