This lot comes from Gahahe washing station, part of the Greenco Coffee company in Kayanza province.
Greenco operates 13 washing stations in Kayanza province; providing over 15,000 local farmers with access to agronomic help as well as financial and medical support, buying cherries directly from smallholders to ensure they recieve fair prices. On average smallholders will have between 200-250 trees, providing an annual harvest of approximately 200-300 kilos of coffee cherries. The most prevalant coffee tree in Burundi is Red Bourbon. This naturally dried lot is made up of contributions from 873 smallholders and comes from Gahahe washing station, which is equipped with 10 fermentation tanks, 4 cherry selection tables, 2 soaking tanks and 180 drying tables that can process up to 750 metric tons of cherry per season.
