About Our Brazil Vinhal Estate — Natural Single Origin

Family owned since 1988, Vinhal Estates lies in the rolling plains of the Cerrado Mineiro, the world famous coffee growing region within the state of Minas Gerais. Run today by Rafael, the Estate employs traditional coffee harvesting practices alongside exciting new sustainability projects. Established African Mahogany trees provide natural shade, creating a balanced ecosystem for young coffee plants. The Estate uses traditional patio drying for its classic regional lots, whilst using raised beds to allow for experimental microlots. This lot utilises the natural processing method; the grains and pulp are dried naturally on the patios to allow the natural flavours of this world famous coffee to shine through.

Minas Gerais, Brazil — The Heart of Cerrado Mineiro

Minas Gerais is Brazil's most celebrated coffee-producing state, and the Cerrado Mineiro sits at its heart. This vast, savannah-like plateau enjoys a distinct wet and dry season — warm, rainy summers that allow cherries to develop slowly, followed by dry, sunny winters perfect for natural processing on patios. The combination produces some of Brazil's most consistent and characterful coffees.

Vinhal Estate has been family-owned since 1988 and is run today by Rafael Vinhal, who balances traditional Brazilian farming methods with forward-thinking sustainability projects. African Mahogany trees, established across the farm, provide natural shade and help create a balanced ecosystem for the coffee plants. The estate operates two processing methods — traditional patio drying for classic regional lots, and raised beds for experimental microlots — giving Rafael the flexibility to explore the full potential of his land.

This lot is a blend of Catuai and Mundo Novo varietals, two classic Brazilian cultivars well-suited to the Cerrado's conditions. It is processed naturally: after harvest, the whole cherries are spread across concrete patios where the grains and pulp dry together in the sun. This approach preserves the natural sweetness of the fruit and gives the coffee its signature chocolatey, nutty character.
