Kichawir Washing station is located in Kericho county in the Great Rift Valley of south-west Kenya.

While Kericho county produces an abundance of speciality coffee, it is world renowned for its Tea Estates. The region boasts high altitudes and fertile volcanic soil which typically produce medium-high acidity coffees. Kichawir station is part of Kichawir Farmer’s cooperative; started in 1999 with just 99 members they now have nearly 1.300 members in Kericho county. Farmers in this region cultivate small farms typically under a hectare in size at altitudes ranging up to 1,600 masl. This washed lot is fermented for 12-48 hours, and then dried over 2-3 weeks on raised beds until the moisture is reduced to 12%. The beans are then cleaned, graded and exported from Mombasa.
