This coffee comes from members of the Cafticultores ORgánicos de Oaxaca (CORO) within the Cañada region. CORO was created in 2007 to aid small producers in Oaxaca gain access to the coffee market. This was necessary due to the fact that producers in the region are located far from urban centres and own an average of 0.5 hectares, making it financially inefficient to transport their crop to market. They currently have 2500 producers across Oaxaca which they help to add value to their product through organic certification and also with farm renovation, giving away up to 1.5 million plants a year to their members. Flores De Magón is a lot made up of shade-grown Typica from La Cañada. It is named after Ricardo Flores Magón, an activist born in the region who, along with his brothers led the Magonist movement which inspired the Mexican Revolution and ultimately the writing of the Constitution of Mexico of 1917, which set out social rights in law.
